Jess is a curly-haired Jersey girl who adores penguins and watches the worst reality shows on TV.

Caring for a pet involves a ton of responsibility, patience, and unconditional love. Unfortunately, this 7-year-old dog named Strudel received the short end of the stick.

When her owner died, she was adopted by another family. However, they were unable to properly deal with the medical issues caused by her obese frame.

Then, she got all the help she needed and much more.

In the video below, posted on July 17, 2017, Kindra Powell from Hearts For Hounds explains, “Strudel came to us from a partnership with Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter. Her original owner had passed away and nobody wanted to deal with her, so she ended up at the shelter.”

After months of being overlooked by potential families because she was obese, something had to be done.

Then, John Cotthaus from Zoom Room, a gym for dogs, stepped in.

“My wife Christy saw a post about Strudel being turned in for being overweight and needed assistance. It immediately started tugging on my wife’s heartstrings and I was like, ‘Yes.’ Immediate response, first comment, ‘We’ll offer her training on us to help her lose weight and find a good, loving home, ” John recalls.

Now, Strudel is slowly working her way up to faster, more rigorous workouts to help her get back to a healthy weight.

Check out Strudel’s dedicated team in the video below, and please SHARE if you think Hearts For Hounds and John are selfless for doing this!
